I write novels and short stories that swing from contemporary crime to epic science‑fiction and World‑War‑II sagas. Growing up in the 1960s, I soaked up the serial storytelling of Marvel comics, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Thunderbirds and the cliff‑hanger cinema episodes n the style of Indiana Jones at Saturday morning pictures.
After leaving school at 16 I joined the police cadets and, two years later, the regular force. A thirty‑year policing career gave me front line exposure, intense confrontations, highs and lows and the quieter moments of camaraderie and boredom. Those experiences now colour the characters and situations in my fiction.
My first novel, Deep Yellow (2015), introduced Brell Sturlach, a former convict thrust into a lethal game show. The sequel, The Search for Locardum, and its follow‑up, The Fight for Locardum, expanded that universe. Switching gears, I wrote Billy, a U.S. based action drama, before returning to Brell for Cirkus Disturbanze and the ship‑bound thriller Hijacked.
More recently I’ve turned to historical mysteries starring Agnes Beck. The first two entries—The Jigsaw and Where the Bones Lie— involves a missing person cold case and one where a medieval skeleton is uncovered. Within early 2026 I’ll release two more Agnes stories – involving a dead detectorist found in possession of a medieval coin and a Victorian era scandal involving secret letters written in code.
Between novels I pen short stories on any subject that sparks my imagination.
